Resumen del contexto y de los objetivos generales del proyecto

MTSYSTEM is a Spanish SME specialized in building automatisms and electronic system engineering services. We have been working in the development of a disruptive way to reduce costs for heating, air-conditioning and lighting, and avoid the cost of installing and maintaining motorized light screens, blinds or curtains in buildings.

During the feasibility period we made an updated analysis of the SoA for Smart Window solutions: there is no solution on the market which combines both energy reduction and privacy at the same time. We optimized the design of the prototype and the plan for its development and demonstration. This includes the identification of key suppliers and distribution partners. We had the assistance of IP experts and confirmed our freedom to operate and the patentability of our innovation.
We made a reassessment of market needs and the regulatory pathways that best accommodates our development. We conducted a study of feedback received from potential end-users of E-SHUTTER and similar technologies. We also interviewed experts operating in the market: architects, engineers, constructers and decorators. With the collective feedbacks we managed to reach a better market-fit with the main risks identified.

Experts from the construction sector from different EU countries were interviewed and have confirmed willingness to pay, and estimate that E-SHUTTER offers a new potential for Smart Buildings. E-SHUTTER was also successfully presented at the renowned trade fair CONSTRUMAT.
The reasons why users will buy E-SHUTTER go far beyond it use for Smart Windows. Architects and decorators want to use it for interior design purposes, manufacturers of bathrooms want it for Smart shower screens, and companies specialized in building automation want it to be responsive to commands from the central air conditioning and other inputs (e.g. weather reports), making it a pure IoT product.
