Validation in Germany and Spain has happened, including users and experts from relevant fields: medical, engineering and motorcycle riders. They valued the safety features of NZi-VITAL, with its high potential for saving lives through faster and efficient emergency assistance. Autonomous energy supply was seen as a compelling feature (reliability). A patent is granted in Spain: Motorcycle helmet for accidents detection and notification, and health monitoring (2610034, 25/04/17).
Prototypes need optimisation (PCB design, and electronics for maximum reliability, and functional robustness); costs target are likely to be achieved (system size, power consumption and ease of integration, for a 220€ unit’s cost); and industrial production challenges are known, integrating electronics into current production lines, new delivery channels, with marketing focused on social networks. Market drivers include rising fatalities, increased adoption of advanced helmets, and track on health status in helmets, all relevant to NZi-VITAL.
