The Politics of Climate Change Loss and Damage

Periodic Reporting for period 3 - CCLAD (The Politics of Climate Change Loss and Damage)

Período documentado: 2021-05-01 hasta 2022-10-31

The project grapples with the political and governance challenges of governing the impacts of climate change. It is important for society because of climate change's human impacts. The overall objectives are to advance our understanding of the role of norms in climate governance at the international and national level and to help us better understand the blockages to faster action.
The period covered by this report has seen the establishment of the project team and the advisory board, launch of the project website, the development of a shared understanding of the theoretical and methodological approaches and advancement of our empirical knowledge of the issue. The project team has begun their fieldwork with research in Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Peru, Fiji and Tuvalu as well as ethnographic fieldwork by all team members at the relevant UN meetings and bodies. The project team has undertaken methodological training, presented early findings to a range of scientific and practitioner audiences and published and submitted a number of papers.
We expect to significantly advance international relations theories on norms and practices; establish new methods for political ethnography and significantly advance our understanding of policy-making and governance practices across a number of countries and sites of global environmental governance.
