Periodic Reporting for period 3 - APOLO (SmArt Designed Full Printed Flexible RObust Efficient Organic HaLide PerOvskite solar cells)

• Flexible champion PSC with up to 20.7% (0.33 cm2) PCE on small area flexible PET
• PSC modules up to 17% onto flexible susbtrate onto 5×5 cm2 substrates (active area 12 cm2)
• Feasibility of the printing process to deposit all the active layers on 13×13 cm2 substrates to obtain flexible modules with about 10×10 cm2 aperture area and 98 cm2 active area, which delivered 3.9% PCE.
• First module on metal foil has been done using scalable processes.
• The cost achieved is 1.38€/Wp for APOLO flexible modules with gold electrode and 0.48€/Wp for flexible modules with carbon electrode manufactured in factory sizes to 200MW/year
All these achievements have been done thanks to:
• Developments and selection of advanced materials and processes
• Using scalable printable processes and low temperature
• Using no toxic solvent, even greener ones looking to reduce any barrier for environmental and human health impact under industrialization conditions.
• Development of scalable LT optimizing generated current and PCE reducing the thickness of absorber layer.
• High efficient barrier encapsulant for optimized lifetime, where hot vacuum lamination process fully compatible with PSC.
• Stability in DH aging conditions of flexible cells no losses were identified after 750h using glass encapsulation while 85% of initial performances was maintained after 800h in storage (Dark/Air) using flexible encapsulation + APOLO glue
APOLO has oganized two OPEN DAYS where the consortium and invited speakers have explained the SoA of the technology looking the attraction of potential industrials and early adopters of PSC. Standardization Workshop has been done looking for homogeneous but protocols to characterize PSC performance . SUMMER SCHOOL has intended to attract young scientist to the energy field. At least one patent has been expected from APOLO and more action are in progress (such as using HRB services) for further exploitation actions. Although seven publications and participation in workshop & congresses have been done, more scientific publications are in progress right now.
