Validation of advanced combustion models for ignition and lean extinction

Numerical simulations of ignition and extinction for premixed as well as for liquid spray injectors and with strong mean azimuthal swirl for annular combustors in T3.1. Development and validation of combustion models used in the LES will be undertaken, thickened flame model (CERFACS), CMC (UCAM) and FTACLES (CNRS).

Investigations into asymmetric heat release rate on the behaviour of azimuthal modes

Development of adjoint equations and testing using simple Helmholtz solvers

Derived adjoint equations of Helmholtz solvers with distributed heat release and acoustic impedance boundary conditions. Test/compare the predicted sensitivities on simple cases.
