Antibiofouling Nanopatterned Electrospun Membranes for Nanofiltration Applications

The goal of the Antibiofouling Nanopatterned Electrospun Membranes for Nanofiltration Applications (ANEMONE) project was to explore the possibility of the formation of electrospun nanofibrous filtration membranes with inherent antimicrobial properties. The development of these membranes was undertaken in three phases: Phase 1: Optimisation of electrospinning protocol for the formation of polymeric nanofiber networks Phase 2: Nanostructuring of polymeric nanofibers using biomimetic templates Phase 3: Membrane Performance and Antimicrobial testing. All three phases of work were undertaken successfully and the concept will be submitted for patent protection with a view towards commercialisation
