TARGETED ENGINEERING OF STONE FRUIT TREE GENOMES FOR RESISTANCE TO SHARKA

Resultado final

Web based interactive platform both for the consortium and the public

The project website will be developed as an intuitive, consistent online interface to all outreach materials. Content will be categorized to allow users to quickly search or browse. Interactive comment forums and surveys will allow all users to contact the project team to make suggestions, ask questions or provide feedback. This website will include with a secured access to the TESS collaborative platform, for consortium management and internal reporting.

Opinion paper on the use of genome editing in Prunus crop improvement

Roundtables will be conducted on a regular basis with potential stakeholders and representatives of civil society By the end of the project an opinion paper will be produced based on the results of the TESS project and discussions going on during the roundtables It will summarise 1 an evaluation of the financial requirements and cost benefits for the adoption of such approaches in breeding programs in relationship to current breeding strategies to enable stakeholders to make informed decisions about adoption of these technologies 2 the examination of the societal impacts and acceptance of such technologies and plant material

Leaflets in English, French, Italian and Spanish

Leaflets will be produced and translated in each respective national language. They will be used 1) to inform stakeholders of the existence of these next generation tree breeding technologies and the potential for them to achieve two major goals, the rapid production of improved tree varieties addressing crop specific issues (e.g. sharka resistance in our case); 2) to integrate the stakeholders into the process of strategic planning of the genome editing technology for future target traits, beyond resistance to sharka.
