Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

The issue being addressed is the very expensive and environmentally harmful transportation of wind turbine blades that are decommisioned. Instead the decommisioned wind turbine blades are fine cut on site and can be carried away in tip trailers or walking floor trailers (standard systems) requiring much less vehicles and much less time. We can see that we at the present time can fulfill the target in our project EcoBlade in connection with Horizon 2020. It has been proved that there is a large demand for the solution of the problems that are the issue of our project as there is currently no solution for fine cutting turbine blades on site.

It is very important for the society that the material can be recycled in an environmentally optimal way with af very much lower consumption of energy.

The overall objective is that the wind turbine industry can look forward to obtaining a circular economy and reduce road transportation and pollution.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

We are now halfway through the project. We have reached the state defined in the WPs.

We can also see from the information we have got on the markets we have visited that there is another large potential of the plant than the one originally designated.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

We have produced a test unit. The result of the test has been very satisfactory. The original goal of 40 t total weight has not been achieved. Instead we have reached a total weight of 150 t. The challenges because of this have been solved in satisfactory manner. Apart from the original goal of solving af problem for the wind turbine industry, it has been proven to us that we can solve a major waste issue in overseas markets.
