Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

Textile, paper and paper-related product productions represent a €350bn value pool in EU’s economy, including tissues, sanitary papers and air-laid hygiene goods such as diapers or other personal care products. Transversal to these segments, dust control and particle removal from process chambers are of utmost importance for the quality of the final product, as well as the health and well-being of workers. Current air industrial filters typically rely on sucking particles from process chambers, which are captured by filter bags that get clogged quickly, requiring frequent manual cleaning. This not only exposes the workers to a very significant occupational hazard but also increases the OPEX of companies working in these sectors, ultimately affecting their competitivity and the final product price.

The overall project objective was to accelerate market introduction of JetConveyour – a breakthrough filter technology that avoids the need for daily filter cleaning – by preparing the business strategy to support its commercialization, as well as prepare full scale demonstration activities for the upcoming Phase 2 project.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

In the present project, the business plan of the JetConveyour was prepared, including the detailed analysis of market potential, preparation of relevant use-cases and definition of the to-market strategy. In addition, a freedom to operate study was carried to secure the exploitation potential of the technology.

In addition, key contacts with industrial end-users and other commercial stakeholders were performed during the Phase 1 project implementation, which validated both the willingness to pay and expanded the potential routes to market to be carried post-project.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

JetConveyor market roll-out will set a milestone in the industry, considering its step disruption from the existing state-of-the-art within air filtration technologies. This will bring significant advantages to workers within the textile and paper industries, by removing the need of daily cleaning of filters, plus ensuring a 100% clean air return to the working environment. Economically, JetConveyour will not only significantly contribute to increase the profitability for the end-users, but it will also untap a very large business opportunity for MultiAir, strongly leveraging its growth to become a leading player in innovation within industrial air filtration systems.
