The conference took place from 29th November to 1st of December 2017.
The 10th Year Anniversary SET Plan conference was conjoined with the 11th annual Central European Energy Conference (CEEC 2017) and organised in Bratislava, Slovakia. The year 2017 marked the jubilee year of the SET Plan and 10 years of constant efforts to mobilise European research and innovation community. The SET Plan now encompasses ambitious R&I targets to inspire cost reductions, performance improvements and accelerate technology deployment.
The 10th year anniversary SET Plan conference had ambition to create a platform to further discuss the SET Plan progress and research and innovation achievements in Europe in the past 10 years that have supported the development of clean, sustainable, efficient and affordable energy technologies for low carbon energy systems in Europe. The conference aimed to examine the implementation process of the Energy Union with a special focus on the role of its Research and Innovation (R&I) dimension. Moreover, it aimed to assess the role of innovative low-carbon technologies in boosting European competiveness, progress in developing new technologies and smart energy systems for efficient use of energy as well growing share of renewables in the primary energy consumption of EU member states. It also evaluated the current trends in electro-mobility, safe utilisation of nuclear energy, enhanced energy storage, consumer friendly eco-design of products and energy labelling, and many other topical issues for the transformation of the EU energy system.
The side events will present added value for the conference participants willing to establish new contacts and partnerships for future cooperation (including research and innovation projects, business and technological cooperation).
