Periodic Reporting for period 1 - EUROVISION (Self-reported vision status and associated risk factors in Europe: prevalence and temporal change)

Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

Eurostat data provides an important opportunity to investigate the prevalence of self-reported visual difficulties and also to relate this to potential risk factors that are also collected by the Eurostat program.
The primary objective is to estimate the prevalence of self-reported vision impairment in Europe.
Secondary objectives include estimation of self-reported dual sensory loss and of self-reported hearing loss in Europe.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

"The preliminary results of the analyses on self-reported vision impairment has been presented in Belfast during the E3 meeting (a meeting on epidemiology) the 7th of June 2019.

- A first manuscript entitled ""Self-reported visual difficulties in Europe and related factors: a European population-based cross-sectional Survey"" has been submitted to a European Journal indexed on PubMed. The manuscript is currently Under review by the journal.

- A second manuscript on dual sensory loss, entitled ""Self-reported dual sensory impairment and related factors: a European population-based cross-sectional Survey"" is currenly under review by the coauthors. It should be submitted to an indexed international journal within 3 to 4 weeks.

- 2 abstracts on EUROVISION have been submitted to the ARVO (Association for Research in Vision) international meeting in Baltimore 3-7 may 2020.
Both abstracts have been accepted for presentation beginning of May 2020.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

The publication should provide original informations on visual problems and on dual sensory loss in Europe, globally and country by country.
It would also provide important informations on socio-economic, demographic and medical factorspossibly associated with sensory problems.
