OMI for Electro-Mobile

Objective

The basic issue to be addressed by the OMI-FEM project is energy recovery during braking cycles by using the electric motor as a generator. A system for global energy control for electric vehicles will be developed.

Currently solutions only exist for battery cell managers, on-board chargers, electric motor control and braking systems. A global approach requires these subsystems to be integrated into an embedded system with respect to hardware as well as software.

Some current subsystem software employs fuzzy algorithms for performance reasons. Because of this the development of embedded systems is a challenging task, as no efficient fuzzy software development tools yet exist capable of addressing these kind of embedded fuzzy software requirements.

To solve these problems, a coherent approach for software, hardware and components will be implemented in the project, based on a unified microcontroller architecture for all subsystems and encompassing a unified fuzzy coprocessor, optimised for cost and performance; an efficient car communication network; enhancements of fuzzy software development tools for use with embedded systems; and improvements and optimisation of subsystem application software.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
