DISEASES AND DISORDERS IN FORESTRY NURSERIES

Objective

Nursery production of forest seedlings is constantly threatened by various pathogens, by fungi, nematodes, insects, etc. These cause diseases that either kill seedlings during rearing or considerably slow their growth by seriously damaging the quality of the above-ground growth and root systems. The expected yield of present and future plantations depends first and foremost on the quality of forest seedlings produced in nurseries. Seedling health is a determining factor in successful transplantation and early growth in the forest environment.
The overall objective of COST 813 is to acquire greater knowledge of the diseases and disorders that destroy forest seedlings and alter their quality and to develop integrated control methods that respect the environment.
