Development of novel and cost-effective drilling technology for Geothermal Systems

A project website

This deliverable is part of Task 10.3. The project website will be created and regularly updated by TWI.

Characterisation report

Led by GEO under Task 1.2, the report will include information on the collected data and samples regarding geofluid, temperature, geology, rheology, drilling mud for analysis and characterisation. The results of the analysis will be used to formulate representative geothermal drill environment which will be used to set up the simulated laboratory geothermal environment.

FMEA report

Led by TVS, this report will be outcome of the activities under Task 1.1. Common failures in geothermal drilling will be identified followed by evalutaion by key experts. The expert’s responses will be summarized, and final FMEA worksheet will be generated according to the format presented in the following table (by XFMEA software).

Rheology testing Report

The deliverable is a report on the rheology testing of drilling mud performed by GER under Task 1.2 as part of characterisation of the geothermal drilling environment.

Geo-Drill KPIs

Report on established KPIs related to hammer, drill bit, drill pipe, sensor, data acquisition and drill monitoring system performance under Task 1.4. The threshold values set for each KPI will be used to benchmark success criterion for material and coating synthesis & optimisation (WP2), drilling components development (WP4, WP5, WP6, WP7, WP8) and testing & validation activities (WP3, WP9).
