Researchers for Humanity 2018-2019

Project description

Events to promote research and innovation in Romania

Since 2007, ‘Researchers for Humanity’ events in Romania have been organised to increase awareness about science and researchers’ achievements. The EU-funded R4H1819 project will organise Researchers’ Night 2018-2019 in 21 big, medium, and small cities across Romania to reveal science’s contribution to the benefit of society. The project will focus on the contribution of private research through private companies and NGOs in innovative research. During the events, the public will meet key players in science and education through entertaining activities, talks, and hands-on learning. The project will promote activities at the national level through a platform, confirming that Researchers’ Night is one of the most significant communication events for research and education institutions.

Objective

“Researchers for Humanity 2018-2019” will continue the series of events already organized in Romania from 2007, building a strong link between public and research through this important message of relevance: what science and researchers do are useful for daily life, and their life is as everyone’s elses. For one day (or 2 days in some places), the public will have the chance to meet important players from science and education through play, interesting talks and interactive hands-on learning. Overall, the message conveyed will be how science can be used in the benefit of humanity. Based on the outstanding awareness of the European dimension of the event that we created throughout the years, Researchers Night 2018-2019 will confirm as being one of the most important communication event for research and education institutions. The network increased year after year, so that, now, the event itself will be organized in 21 big, medium and small cities from all over Romania. Also, through the platform, we will invite associated events to get enrolled and be supported by us through promotion at the national level. We aim to reach 52000 visitors, over 350 researchers, students and teachers and over 600000 prs to be exposed to the awareness campaign. The logo will assemble with the old one in order to create a link with previous years and awareness of the European and national dimension of the event. Partnerships will be continued at national and local level (also with one of the most important TV stations in Romania). The main novelty of the project will be the component of private research through private companies and NGOs that are implementing various research projects.
