Periodic Reporting for period 1 - CellsBox (CellsBox: a modular system for automated cell imaging experiments)

We have arrived at producing an entirely customised fully functional automated optical microscope with fluorescence, hardware-autofocus, translation stage and scripting language for automated long-term microscopy. The design is optimised for computer-vision of live biological systems (cells and tissues). The units are temperature controlled in a compact environmental enclosure.
This was the main technical aim of PoC CellsBox. Due to onstacles caused by the pandemic, which affected both the rate of work in the lab and the ability to connect and reach out to commercial partners, our progress was slower than we had originally planned. We have set up a spin-off company, Temikra Ltd, which will act to hold knowhow from this project. The company is in discussions now with two possible production partners. We are confident that the technolgy will deliver on the promised improved imaging in research labs.
