hey!Education: Breaking Classroom Communication Barriers

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - HeyEducation (hey!Education: Breaking Classroom Communication Barriers)

Reporting period: 2018-09-01 to 2018-12-31

Researchers, educators and learners themselves acknowledge that ICT properly integrated for the sake of learning can substantially contribute to academic success. Although ICT are being implemented in European schools, there is still an urgent need to improve the uptake of technologies in education. Unfortunately, current solutions in the market are unable to provide an integrated solution that enables the easy implementation of technology in the classroom, provides a two-way communication channel between learners and educators, and gives education administrators and decision makers the ability to assess knowledge acquisition and technology usage in schools.
During the Feasibility Study we have carried out the following activities:
A complete Educational Technologies market analysis, including the identification of key stakeholders, competitors and main risks. A successful FTO study was carried out for our main geographical areas. As well, we established our exploitation strategy draft, including the refinement of our business plan and commercialization strategy. We estimated our Total Available Market to be 37.7 million devices only in European academic institutions. Our identified main target customers are public and private education administrators. Our target geographical areas are Spain, Italy, UK, and France. Our revenue model is based on direct sales (hey!U) and annual licenses (hey!C). MySQL database management system, HTTP protocol, Bluegiga TI chipsets, Azure Cosmos Database are some of the identified enhancements that we will implement during project execution. A successful pilot comprising 100 hey!U unit was carried out in a Spanish primary school in Madrid.
Hey!Education is the only solution in the market that enables the implementation of ICT (laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.) in the classroom for academic purposes by enabling the educator to easily supervise learner´s activity on any device. In addition, it provides learners and educators with a communication tool that enables real-time feedback and continuous formative assessments. Furthermore, our unique software platform enables learners, educators, schools and public administrators to assess hundreds of parameters (learner performance, strategy effectiveness, ICT usage, etc.), and compare them hierarchically across a multi-scale spectrum, from individual learners to national statistics. Moreover, our system integrates these unparalleled value proposition into a software platform and plug-in device which increases engagement and communication among learners.
