Project description
Innovative air purifiers for homes and offices
The demand for indoor air purification systems is growing owing to a rise in airborne diseases and increased pollution levels. The operation of all current air purifiers is based on turbulent air flow, which is ineffective and noisy. The EU-funded FOGSCREEN MINI project will develop an air purification system based on laminar air flow technology, which distributes clean air and captures particles more effectively. This unique home and office air purifying device will also project stunning interactive images onto a screen of vapour: the purified air stream will create a curtain of fog, which will be used to display responsive hologram-like images.
Objective
FogScreen Mini is a unique home and office air purifying device that projects stunning interactive images onto a screen of vapour. It uses breakthrough laminar circulation technology to purify and humidify an entire room more effectively and quietly than current devices. The purified air stream creates a curtain of fog, which is used to present responsive hologram-like images for entertainment or promotion. By adding visuals to air sanitation, the FogScreen Mini will stimulate the large-scale take-up of air quality technology, improving the health of residents and office workers in polluted urban environments worldwide.
The demand for indoor air purification systems is growing rapidly due to poor urban air quality, resulting in respiratory problems and general poor health. All existing purifiers use turbulent circulation, which is ineffective and noisy. FogScreen Mini is pioneering laminar air flow technology, which distributes clean air and captures particles more effectively. Tests show the FogScreen Mini collects at least 25% more particles and is 50% quieter than the nearest competitor.
Customers are residents and office managers seeking to improve air quality. The market for air filtration technology is estimated to reach $US20.65B by 2020. The company will partner with electronics manufacturers. One Chinese distributor is already in negotiations.
Fogio has already created a prototype unit, proven the technical concept and shown quantifiable benefits. It holds worldwide patents for the innovation. The company has a team of 11 experienced professionals, including technology experts to develop innovations, and a sales team with international networks. Within five years, Fogio forecasts total unit sales of 2.8 million, generating €790 million in revenue, scaling up to 300 employees. The benefits for Europe will be improved citizen health and reduced deaths from respiratory problems.
