Air quality in cities is worsening around the world, leading to widespread health problems. 80% of urban areas have unsafe air pollution levels, leading to 3.7 million premature deaths annually. This is expected to double by 2050, becoming the top environmental cause of mortality. This has created a booming market for air-sanitation systems, particularly in Asian cities. However, take-up in other markets such as Europe has been slower, as there is less awareness of the problem and available products. Certain segments, such as residents and small businesses, are yet to be reached. Capturing their attention requires better product information and additional features.
Most current air purification and humidification devices perform poorly. They generate turbulent air flow, which creates irregular whirlpool regions and distributes air unevenly. Only air in the immediate vicinity of the device is captured, while dangerous particles and gases across the room remain unaffected. Air is often blown across the floor, which disturbs particles rather than removes them. The current devices are also extremely noisy, which encourages users to operate them at the lowest setting. This means that the advertised filtration levels are rarely achieved. This inefficiency results in higher energy use and frequent maintenance, making them costly to operate in the long term.
Fogio has created a new home and office air purification device, FogScreen Mini, that combines groundbreaking innovations in air purifying and with the patented fogscreen technology. During this project, Fogio has produced a detailed feasibility study.

During the project, Fogio has produced a detailed feasibility study. This work has included concluding a technical study, user tests, a production study and a commercialization study.
The project was the logical step for the company to ensure it can maximize the value of its highly innovative patented fogscreen technology. It allows the company to transition from offering a small number of large devices, to a mass market consumer device aimed at a large and growing product category, to which it can offer a unique game-changing product feature. The project ensured that the company is ready to achieve this, in terms of technology, supply chain, partnerships and market entry strategy.
