Project description
Wearable device for the treatment of erectile dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to achieve or sustain a penile erection during sexual intercourse. The EU-funded EREDETIO project aims to develop and bring to market a novel comprehensive ED diagnostic and treatment monitoring device for the improvement of patients’ health and well-being. The device can be used at any time, including during sexual activity or at night, providing reliable data about the patient’s erection, its duration, change in circumference, and rigidity. Data obtained will be stored and analysed on the patient’s phone via a dedicated application for secure transfer to the medical professionals for diagnosis and treatment monitoring. Phase 1 of the project will analyse the market as well as the financial and technical feasibility of the device development.
Objective
The Objective of this Project is to assess market, financial, organisational and technical feasibility of Eredetio – a comprehensive, convenient and easy erectile dysfunction diagnostic and treatment monitoring device that can be used at home, anytime, at affordable price.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is characterized by incapability to build up or sustain a penile erection during sexual intercourse. It affects up to 52% of men aged 40-70 years. As for the men under 40, they represent 25% of all ED cases, with almost 50% of the young men complaining of severe ED. The causes of ED can be organic (physical), psychological, or both. Therefore reliable diagnostics are needed in order to assign proper treatment (psychotherapy, medicines etc.) Nowadays, all diagnostic methods are associated with visiting a physician. However in many cases men are embarrassed to go to the physician or they reject the problem until it creates serious issues with their health, relationship and life. Very often men try to “cure” the ED by using counterfeit drugs or widely advertised supplements that not only do not actually solve the problem but can cause harm.
Eredetio is a one-stop solution to the ED problem which can be used by the patients in their homes. Eredetio device will conveniently measure duration and rigidity of the erection during intercourse, and if erection sufficient for intercourse is not achievable for the patient, then it would measure the duration and rigidity of patient’s nocturnal erections. Eredetio device is a small, cheap and it provides reliable data about patient’s erection. Data obtained will be stored and analysed in patient’s phone (by a dedicated Eredetio app) and could be either shown to the physician, securely sent to the physician or analysed by the physicians hired by Lovely Fun sp. z o. o. who would provide diagnosis and treatment through telemedicine means of communications.
