High-Voltage High-Current Lightweight Solid-State Protection Circuit for Avionic Applications

Project description

Advanced avionics solution paves the way for new era in aeronautics

The EU-funded H2LSPC project plans to develop and demonstrate a lightweight, high-voltage protection component compatible with aerospace standards. Specifically, the product has to be suitable for use in electrical architectures with a voltage bus higher than 1 kV and current capability higher than 1 kA. The proposed solution will incorporate a cooling and thermal management device as well as the necessary electromagnetic shielding features. To achieve its goals, the project will conduct topological studies and deliver high-reliability integrated solutions at a technology readiness level 4.

Objective

This project is about developing and demonstrating a lightweight high-voltage solid-state protection component (SSPC) compatible with aerospace standards. Specifically, a product suitable for electrical architectures with voltage bus higher than 1 kV and current capability higher than 1 kA will be pursued. The proposed solution will incorporate the cooling and thermal management device, as well as the necessary electro-magnetic shielding features required to meet the standards of aerospace applications. To achieve the intended targets, the project will base on a balanced mixture of topological and technological studies and will deliver built-in reliability integrated solutions at the TRL4 level.

Keywords

Project’s keywords as indicated by the project coordinator. Not to be confused with the EuroSciVoc taxonomy (Fields of science)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
