THE GREEN GENERATORS: MARU MOBILE ENERGY SUPPLY UNIT

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - MESU (THE GREEN GENERATORS: MARU MOBILE ENERGY SUPPLY UNIT)

Reporting period: 2018-12-01 to 2019-03-31

Off-grid power generation is currently dominated by polluting, costly and inefficient diesel generators. Increasingly stringent environmental regulations and cost savings stimuli are pushing end-users to search for alternatives. In this context, Maru Systems have developed MESU that combines PV solar panels, battery storage and a back-up diesel generator. MESU is a smart hybrid generator which will provide off-grid power 24/7 while simultaneously reducing emissions and fuel usage by up to 95%. The system is simple and effective. It’s fully operational within 2 minutes and immediately capable of delivering off-grid power in any thinkable situation.
The need that society has for MESU is based on the needs for clean energy, reducing carbon emissions, plug & play off-grid power in challenging situations like disaster response, army and remote areas.
The completion of Phase 1 aims at: (i) Technical developments; like improve the tolerance against weather conditions and furthering the PV solar arm mobility, (ii) commercial objectives including market forecasts and risk assessment, and (iii) financial objectives such as costs revision and income/profit estimations.
Technical upgrades have been defined and scheduled, including upgrading developments and valuable industrialization assessment. Commercialization strategy have been confirmed based on the urgent needs of the construction industry, the upward trend of the involved markets, and the absence of both direct competitors and conflicts with IPR. We performed a risk assessment to make sure that the most relevant risks are identified and set a contingency plan. We also value trade fairs and demonstration activities as a strategy to attract new customers and commercial agreements. Considering costs revision and business plan, prices between 80,000 and 100,000 € were estimated depending on customer´s requirements. The deployment of MESU in international markets will allow the exploitation of a business opportunity with cumulative revenues of 30 M€, ROI of 5 and profit margins in the range 20-30%.
By its unique solar arm and in-house developed software, MESU provides the highest fuel savings and emission reduction in the market. MESU also offers the broader availability of power range and presents key advantages for transportation, installation and use.
The adoption of MESU will help to decrease the carbon footprint of the end-users and increase their overall energy efficiency, in line with EU 2030 Energy Strategy. Thus, MESU will contribute to strengthen the renewable energy share and the energetic self-sufficiency of the EU, which in turn will generate social, environmental and economic benefits.
