Neural Network-based Robots for Disassembly and Recycling of Automotive Products

Objective

In view of the growing ecological and economic necessity for recycling and disassembly of car components and in order to comply with tightening car recycling legislations in Europe, this project aims at the development and implementation of an autonomous robot system for the disassembly and recycling of automotive products. The overall objective is to automate the disassembly process and to make the car recycling process economically attractive.

The objectives include:

- studying methodologies for car disassembly and recycling
- developing and applying advanced sensory networks for object identification
- developing and installing an autonomous robot system for disassembly
- the design and construction of a car disassembly unit.
