Un système innovant de purification de l’air dans les usines
Les usines demeurent une source importante de rejets de polluants dans l’environnement de l’Europe. Il s’agit notamment du rejet de gaz toxiques tels que le dioxyde de carbone (CO2) et le monoxyde de carbone (CO), qui sont nocifs pour la santé humaine. La pollution atmosphérique n’est pas seulement responsable de centaines de milliers de décès prématurés en Europe, elle est également dangereuse pour l’environnement, provoquant la disparition d’animaux et de plantes et une perte de la diversité. Pour inverser cette tendance, le projet C-Air, financé par l’UE, propose un système efficace de purification de l’air en temps réel, créé par la société innovante Salamandra Zone, qui traite à la fois les particules polluées et les gaz dangereux en concentrations extrêmement élevées. Le système purifie l’air toxique et l’enrichit en oxygène, le rendant ainsi non toxique et inoffensif.
Objectif
Over time, cities have grown rapidly and are now located close to factories. This has put the lives of families and individuals at risk as factories pollute and release toxic gases that may spread into the environment. The lives of workers employed at these factories is also at risk. As of 2017, air pollution has been directly linked to over 500,000 premature deaths in Europe3. Toxic gases such as Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), are some examples of pollutants that factories release. Moreover, the leakage of these gases lead to environmental problems such as loss of animal and plant life, loss of biodiversity, acidification, etc.4 Air scrubbers, or scrubbers, are the most common devices used by factory owners to combat the leakage of harmful gases. They are devices that are used to remove pollutants from smoke or gas. Currently, scrubbers are ineffective for several reasons: 1) they have a limited range of treatable gases; 2) they offer poor purification; 3) they are enpensive; and, 4) they required a large infrastructure.
Salamandra zone has created the C-Air, an efficient real-time air purification system that handles both polluted particles and hazardous gases in extremely high concentrations. The system purifies toxic air and enriches it with oxygen making it non-toxic and breathable, thus saving the lives of workers at factories and of citizens living near them in case an emergency occurs.
