One model for verbal monitoring

Mistakes in speech can be identified through verbal monitoring mechanisms. Any deficits here can cause speech pathologies such as stuttering. Unfortunately, there are many knowledge gaps in verbal monitoring mechanisms. The EU-funded UMMs project will connect the functional and the structural map of neural brain connections with behavioural measures using large control groups to test language productions and performance of cognitive control tasks. The aim is to establish relationships between verbal competence and different monitoring models, cognitive control and verbal monitoring skills, and verbal monitoring processes in perception. The new model will be validated via transcranial magnetic stimulation.
