Project description
Building new technology for the construction industry
The construction industry may be among the least digitised, but the digitalisation of this industry is growing. The use of technology that projects augmented reality of 3D blueprints (BIM) on top of the physical construction scene is expected to ensure that the world’s infrastructure projects are not late or over-budget. The EU-funded SmartBuild project is developing technology that can communicate the construction blueprints to the field worker in a revolutionary visual way allowing the worker to follow it and work accordingly. Its purpose is to ensure that construction workers can correctly implement 2D and 3D construction plans on the first go, whilst managers are able to continuously monitor the implementation process.
