The Smart Broadcast Monitoring and Management System

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - SoundID (The Smart Broadcast Monitoring and Management System)

Período documentado: 2019-02-01 hasta 2019-05-31

Broadcast monitoring is extremely important for music production, broadcast management, and advertising: 1) It permits advertising agencies to reliably check satisfactory commercials broadcasting. 2) Broadcasters need reliable reports of their transmission schedules for advertisers, advertising agencies, authorities (quota) and copyright management agencies. 3) Artists and music publishers need to determine exact figures on how often their titles are played. The cost of 24×7 manual monitoring is prohibitive, but automation drastically reduces costs. Consequently, the need for automation, together with innovation in technology and business models, are driving the associated markets of Automatic Content Recognition and Media Monitoring.

SoundID is a robust and reliable on premises or cloud-based content recognition SW providing more features, better performance, and match rates than competing solutions. It is the most powerful broadcast management tool integrated into a global platform. SoundID computing technology is provided as a product or as API for integration purposes. It includes security protocols, not needing external security support. Flexibility, precision, accuracy, discovery capabilities provide outstanding advantages not offered by any of our competitors.
The work covers the objectives for the Phase 1 proposal, which includes:
Technical feasibility: the results prove the correct integration of the different modules of the software and considerations to reach TRL9.
Freedom to Operate analyzed a number of patents which have been identified. Non-significant findings jeopardize the project, and we indicate the protection measures to be taken by SoundID. Also, normative and regulations to be fulfilled are analyzed.
Commercial feasibility includes the identification of market actions for penetration and relevant key clients, as well as market size analysis.
Financial feasibility and business plan include a sales forecast, EBITDA estimations, and market risks identification. With an initial estimation of 1.2M€ from Phase 2, indicates an ROI of 11. Critical risks (technical and commercial) are analyzed.
12 potential direct competitors have been identified. None of the existing ones provides a complete feature set such as SoundID, nor offers a complete set of capabilities such as OPNS do, at a competitive price. Competitors are mainly focused to fingerprint detection, but they cannot reach the same accuracy, don’t identify duplicates, and no one offers the potential set of tools such as OPNS do. Recently OPNS has won the Radio Product of the Year 2019 prize on NAB Las Vegas event.
