Pole climbing solution to improve safety at work and to prevent fatal accidents in industrial climbing

Project description

Innovative solution enhancing safety in pole climbing

Climbing irons, which are attached to the climber’s lower leg and includes a spike, constitute the most important equipment for professionals that need to climb poles and trees. However, the climbing irons do not match the modern user and safety requirements and often result in fatal accidents. Moreover, they are not classified as personal protective equipment (PPE). The EU-funded GENETTA project is developing a new pole climbing system that improves safety at work and prevents fatal accidents. The first version of the Genetta™ climbing solution was introduced in Finland in February 2018. The project aims now to create a roadmap for the first introduction of the Genetta solution to international markets.
