Project description
A Czech chair for the environment
The environmental health science curriculum has evolved into a multidisciplinary field covering all aspects of our environment – natural and man-made – that can impact our health. To develop new opportunities for this research field in Central and Eastern Europe, the EU-funded R-Exposome Chair project will create an ERA Chair at the Czech Republic’s Masaryk University in Brno. The ERA Chair will serve as the leader of a new research programme on environmental epidemiology, bioplastics and bioinformatics. The ultimate goal of the project is to educate, train and mentor future leaders in the field who will eventually inform and influence policy.
Objective
The main goal of this ERA Chair project proposal is to develop new capacities for the Environmental Health research in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, namely at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, by establishing the excellent international scientist as an ERA Chair and a leader of new research programme on Environmental Epidemiology, Biostatistics and/or Bioinformatics. The new research group will focus on interpretation of available regional data on the environmental exposures and their impacts on population health, and contribute to development of new study programmes in the Environmental Health sciences including the Ph.D. school.
