Pan-European twinning to re-establish world-level Neuroscience Centre in Kiev (NEUROTWIN)

Resultado final

Knowledge Transfer Workshops

Workshops will be centred on transfer of knowledge, methodology and current approaches as well as on developing and documenting research protocols. We shall organize three such workshops during the period of this project. One is in month 3, second is in month 15 (followed by Scientific Writing Workshop), third is in month 27 (followed by Proposal Writing Workshop)

Summer School and Student Workshop

"Student Workshop “Biophysical methods in Neuroscience” annually held in BIPH during last 13 years. In 2020, 2021 and 2022 the Workshop will be held in Aprils at BIPH. The main aim of this event is to promote state-of-the-art methods, which are in use for Neuroscience research for early stage researchers with their future recruiting to PhD Neuroscience programs at BIPH. The school consist of lectures and practical works related to experimental neuroscience. Summer School is an annual project organized by Student Science Association and the National Technical University of Ukraine ""KPI"" in Kiev, Ukraine in close collaboration with the Neuroscience Division of BIPH. The prior aim of the project is to promote science among youth. In the framework of the NEUROTWIN “Neuroscience Stream” of Summer School will be focused on the computational aspects of the field. This school will be held in Mays of 2020,2021 and 2022 "

Policy Makers Meetings

Round tables of Scientific Committee members, high-ranking officers of Ukrainian Ministry of Science and Education, members of Parliament and other policy makers with leaders of Participating teams will be organized during their visits to Kiev.

PGM staff Training Visits

To train the Translational Research Office staff, the staff members will visit the participating EU institutions and relevant EU courses focusing on the commercialisation and translational implementation of advances in basic biomedical research. Two sets of visits are planned in month 5 and 16

USN Congress

Ukrainian Society for Neuroscience (USN) Congress 2020 will be a good platform for disseminating of project results for both scientific and industrial community in Ukraine. Previous USN Congress (2017) has gathered about 150 participants from leading neuroscience-oriented institutions, SMEs and pharmaceutical companies. In order to increase the scientific level of the USN congress 2020 and attract early stage researchers we plan to invite 4 keynote speakers using NEUROTWIN support. We plan to announce 10 travel grants for early stage neuroscience-oriented researchers from remote Ukrainian regions.

Scientific Writing Workshop and Publication Contest

Organization of in-house workshops centred on writing research articles / scientific reports. One workshop per year (months 3, 15, 27), in which members of IBMC, UU, TUM and UCL teams will meet to share their skills in writing research papers with the BIPH scientists. The timetable of these workshops will match that of Knowledge Transfer Workshops to minimize costs. Invited speakers, experts in these fields shall deliver educational talks and arrange practical training.

Proposal Writing Workshops

Organization of three in-house workshops centred on grant proposals writing is planned. One workshop per year (months 3, 15, 27) in which members of ZSI, IBMC, UU, TUM and UCL teams will meet to share their skills in writing grant proposals with the BIP scientists. In addition, invited trainers and experts in the Horizon 2020 structural organization, writing applications and legal and financial grant management will deliver educational talks and arrange practical training.

Science-Industry Workshops

We will organize two Science-Industry Workshops (months 8, 18) involving our major industrial stakeholders from biomedical services and health care institutions in Ukraine and some overseas businesses, to exchange knowledge, ideas, and methods, and to establish solid science-industry relationship.

Seminar room renovation

Training, dissemination and communication during the implementation of the project require a good quality presentation room having installed necessary modern demonstration, communication and recording equipment. The Neuroscience Division of BIPH has its own seminar room that can fit up to 50 people. This room is perfectly suited for the most activities in the framework of the project including lectures, seminars, workshops, communication with legislators, governmental officers and industrial stakeholders. Unfortunately, this room has not been renovated for 25 years. In order to create necessary conditions for training, dissemination and communication we plan to remodel the seminar room and to install in this room modern demonstration, communication and recording equipment (from indirect costs).

Project Factsheets

The Project Factsheets will be permanently filled with announces and relevant results of NEUROTWIN exercises.

Smart Specialization Strategy Recommendations

It is anticipated that the Twinning activity will allow for the first time in Ukraine to develop recommendations for the overall Smart Specialization Strategy of the Kiev region leading to the future creation of general Neuroscience cluster. These recommendations will be based on the interactions of BIPH with local authorities, SME of Kiev region, overseas organizations and research institutions in Ukraine that will be established during the accomplishment of the Project

Peer-reviewed publications of the coordinating entity during the three years preceding the start date of the project

Introduce in the Continuous reporting tool on the Funding and Tenders portal before the end of month 2 of the project peer-reviewed publications (in the particular field of research) of the coordinating entity during the three years preceding the start date of the project.

Key Performance Indicators

"Evolution of the publications in high impact journals in the fields of Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience. This indicator measures the evolution (compared to a reference period of three years prior to the signature of the grant agreement) in % of the peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals (in the top 10% impact ranked journals) in the field of Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience in BIPH under the ""Twinning"" measures."

Grant initiation measures

Protocol of cooperation, Editorial Group, PGM Department, Translational Research Office, CDE Committee, CDE Plan, Educational Committee, Management Committees, Partnership Agreement, Project Website will be created/organised

Video- and Handbooks.

The lectures as well as methods and approaches presented during Workshops will be recorded in video format and saved as VideoBooks-of-Transferable-Training and Handbooks-of-Scientific-Methods-and-Protocols. The Knowledge Transfer Committee will be responsible for editing of these VideoBooks and Handbooks and the PGM Department and Editorial Group will take care of their production.
