Advanced Sports Data Measurement and Analysis Solution for Athletics

Periodic Reporting for period 2 - SPECTO Athletics (Advanced Sports Data Measurement and Analysis Solution for Athletics)

Reporting period: 2020-04-01 to 2021-08-31

As digitization of society is moving forward at an ever increasing pace sporting events have been falling behind in adopting the latest in technology advances. The SPECTO Athletics® project aims to bring the most advanced solutions to the field to help in improving the technological situation for the sports.
It provides a good means for fans, athletes, coaches and researchers to engage in a manner never before seen. Performance data at this level has never before been so readily available and easily accessible. For the general public this sparks a much larger interest in the how and why’s of a given sport.
We can through our technology provide insights and enliven broadcasts in a whole new way, with our real-time data completely new ways of experiencing a sports broadcast can be created.
As we set out at the beginning of the project to create a real disruption is the world of real-time sports performance data we managed to accomplish a massive amount in just 2 years. As 2019 came to a close we piloted our system at the Doha Athletics World Championships and our data was broadcasted live to over 1B households globally. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, finally something new.
Even bigger things were in the works for the Nanjing 2020 Indoor Athletics World Championships, the release of our consumer Mobile Application. This is when the pandemic struck, at first events got rescheduled and then cancelled altogether. We are ready to launch as soon as general pandemic situation and financial situation improves.
We have applied for, and been granted, multiple patents during the course of this project. A lot of technological advances that previously were seen as being far in to the future were not only made to happen, but also proven it can be done, now.
From a socio-economic standpoint, now more than ever with the pandemic, systems like ours could prove vital in arranging of sporting events around the globe. People are reluctant to travel for fear of getting ill, but still want to follow their favorite sport or athlete. Through our system and applications they have an opportunity to do so while staying safe. Less travel is also good for the environment.
