Tasks as Building Blocks

A report describing a framework that models task as a specification for application, algorithm, or tool development. To date, support tools for information tasks are non-existent or under-developed. In other domains, travel and e-commerce in particular, a highly prescriptive procedure has been adopted for travel (e.g., booking flights, hotel and activities) and for e-shopping (from product selection to payment and delivery) to assist the user through the processes. We plan to similarly unbundle information tasks, outlining what information and analyses are required.

Cognitive and Physical User/Context Models

A report detailing the definitions of cognitive and physical (user) context models, and of short and long term (user) context models.

New Contextual Models

A report detailing the contextual search models, with instantiations for the three target domains and analysis of similarities and differences.
