A new paradigm in cultural diplomacy
Cultural diplomacy helps foster a mutual understanding of people between nations. The EU-funded CuDiCy project aims to explore cultural diplomacy between Greece, Turkey and the United Kingdom from 1945 to 1974. It will not touch on events that transpired after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, which has cleft the Mediterranean island into two ethnic communities. The project aspires to set a new paradigm in culture diplomacy by exploring external cultural influence in countries that accommodate ethnically diverse populations. This will help contribute to the understanding of politics as well as the formation and transformation of respective national identities.
