Periodic Reporting for period 1 - Hologlass (A New Generation of Augmented Reality Smart Glasses) Reporting period: 2019-05-01 to 2019-09-30 Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project Most industrial technicians who are in charge of assembling, testing and maintaining equipment frequently have to stop what they are doing to check manuals or call experts to ensure that they are following the procedures that will make the system work correctly. When performing maintenance work in hard to reach areas such as wind turbines or the sewer system, this can be quite difficult as there might be limited cell phone coverage and it might be unsafe to make a call or read a manual. In any case, they usually need their hands to hold the different parts they are working on. Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far - Task1.1. Technical validationWithin the technological feasibility study, we have analysed the Hologlass stage of development and definde its final specifications based on real market needs. We have established our technology roadmap to achieve the biggest impact in the market.- Task 1.2 Market assessment and pilot identificationWe have studied in detail what is the size of the market we are going to target. This have allowed us to make better estimations operational and financial.- Task 1.3 Business model validationJointly with stakeholders, we have shifted our business model so we can improve the scalability of our company.- Task 1.4 – Legal assessmentWe have performed a background patent research to ensure that our main features can be protected. Based on that, we have developed patentability strategy for the future.- Task 1.5 – Work Plan for Phase 2 and Risk assessmentTaking into account which are the technical challenges and features to develop, we have defined a work plan. The risk assessment has allowed us also to better shape the work plan.- Task 1.6 - Business plan descriptionWe have documented the commercialization strategy to be implemented in the future- Task 1.7 Business Plan and Feasibility ReportWe have written and documented all the work done during the Phase 1. Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far) Currently, most AR Smart glasses are focused to domestic users or are backed by top 500 fortune companies. There is a lack of SME manufacturing AR Smart Glasses and focused on the industrial sector. Youbiquo plans to fill this gap by developing AR Smart Glasses that solve some of the issues that current players have, which will bring this product beyond the state of the art.
