Periodic Reporting for period 2 - DEMS-Nixus (Creating a new paradigm of business value creation by fostering collaboration and data sharing while minimising the cost of business transformation)

Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

With DEMS-Nixus, GDE creates a paradigm shift: by changing the responsibility for data synchronisation (from the people within the organisation to advanced AI meta-algorithms), DEMS-Nixus automates the permanent dialog between the real world (humans) and the digital world (machines). The social dependence is drastically reduced by using natural language in the automation of business rules definition. The platform implementation does not require changing the existing infrastructure of the organisation (it is independent of the infrastructure maturity level), thus accelerating business value creation while minimising the cost of business transformation.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

• Significant progress was made in the Work Package 1 Data Sharing sphere which is 80% complete. As part of the Data Engineering services, the Data Acquisition and Data Discovery tasks are complete and work remains to be conducted in the Data Preparation task in particular in the implementation of data transformation functionalities. Regarding the Data qualification and certification services, the Data Qualification, Data Sharing and Data Subscription tasks are complete but work remains to be done on the Data Certification task in particular with the data lineage graphical feature implementation.
• Work Package 2 Machine Learning & AI has been completed. Semantic data-model generation, business rule generation, data dependency discovery and automatic SQL generation for business rules conformity have been implemented.
• Work Package 3 Community Management has been completed. The intuitive graphical navigation, filter and facet-based search tool and the collaboration services (messaging, alerts, tagging, ratings, networking) have all been implemented.
• Significant progress was made in Work Package 4 Integration and Tests. The tests have been performed and corresponding adjustments made to the software, pre-commercial pilots have been conducted successfully and the resulting documentation was updated. Only a few tests remain to be written and training videos remain to be edited and integrated in the online help.

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

In spite of the technological revolution of recent decades, the ruling doctrine in data integration and analysis has practically not changed since the 1970’s. Big corporates and small start-ups continue to develop data analytics solutions focused on data integration (through integration platforms), data analytics (through various analytics and Business Intelligence solutions) or information Exchange.
Conventional systems are the heart of the problem. KPI follows a linear path and it’s lost in translation. KPIs are stuck with the past. We need to move from KPI to KVI (Key Value Indicator) with DEMS to create a Dynamic dialog between human wisdom and data. The KVI path sold complexity and costs and accelerate the value creation. The KVI is governed by value.
