La numérisation ouverte facilite les choses pour les PME
L’Europe est à l'aube d’une nouvelle révolution industrielle – un quatrième bond en avant – appelée industrie 4.0 caractérisée par des robots intelligents et par l’expansion des communications et des réseaux sans fil. En général, ce terme s’applique à un groupe de transformations rapides au niveau de la conception, de la fabrication, de l’exploitation et des services des systèmes et produits industriels. Le projet IOTI4.0 financé par l’UE, développe un concept commercial très innovant: l’utilisation de matériel à source ouverte (OSHW) dans des environnements industriels professionnels. L’OSHW offre de grands avantages à l’utilisateur en termes de coûts, de flexibilité, de sécurité et d’interopérabilité, et s’avère également de plus en plus profitable pour l’économie. Il s’agira de la première technologie interopérable et normalisée (conforme à la norme CEI 61131) basée sur la sécurité et la santé au travail pour l’industrie 4.0 destinée à rendre la numérisation accessible aux petites entreprises.
Objectif
The Industry 4.0 is creating new opportunities to enhance the competitiveness of industries, a sector accounting for 2M enterprises, 33M jobs and 60% of EU productivity growth. However, SMEs risk missing the train of digitalisation because existing proprietary technologies for automation and control are expensive and do not provide the flexibility required in dynamic industrial environments.
The IOTI4.0 project aims to disrupt the market of industrial automation and control (a market worth $153.3Bn) through a highly innovative business concept: the use of Open Source Hardware (OSHW) in professional industrial environments. OSHW brings great benefits to the user in terms of cost, flexibility, security and interoperability. It also delivers growing benefits to the economy. However existing solutions are not sufficiently developed nor professionalised to serve the needs of industry.
IOTI4.0 will bring into the market the first interoperable, standardised (IEC61131-compliant) OSHW-based technology for Industry 4.0 (both hardware devices and intelligent programming software). It will do so at a much more affordable price (50% cheaper on average) thanks to the fact that OSHW does not have the added cost of a proprietary licence. Applicable to industries of any sizes and sectors, IOTI4.0 will make digitalisation accessible to any SME willing to transition to Industry 4.0.
The company behind IOTI4.0 is Boot & Work, a young SME (Barcelona, 2012) specialised in OSHW solutions for industry. With a team of 16 staff, in just a few years, we have achieved a track record in international sales (1,200 clients in 85 countries). IOTI4.0 is the cornerstone of our strategic plan to accelerate growth. With an investment of 1.4M€, the new products and software services will be ready by end-2020. We expect 4M€ in revenues in 2020, reaching 37M€ and 48 employees in 5 years. Our ambition is to become the biggest provider of industrial solutions based on Open Source Hardware worldwide.
