Effective management of pregnant cancer patients through a cloud-based integrative and highly specialized advisory board platform

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - NIMBUS4CIP (Effective management of pregnant cancer patients through a cloud-based integrative and highly specialized advisory board platform)

Reporting period: 2020-03-01 to 2021-08-31

Cancer in pregnancy is a neglected disease in its own right, affecting a relatively small number of pregnant women yet having significant impact on patient care and oncological, obstetrical and neonatal outcomes. As increasingly recognised for many more common diseases, management is most effective when it relies on a team of multidisciplinary specialists all aware of how their discipline interacts with the others in terms of pregnant cancer patient care. Clearly, physicians specialised in this condition are far fewer than the hospitals that might see an occasional patient. The EU-funded NIMBUS4CIP project is bringing a cancer pregnancy advisory board to hospitals that need it through a cloud-based platform. Project funding is supporting validation of its societal and commercial value and a study of clinical outcomes. Pregnant cancer patients may soon have world-class treatment options at their local community hospitals.
