Revolutionizing Stationary Energy Storage Cost: Go To Market Plan For Zinc-Ion Rechargeable Batteries

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - ENERZ (Revolutionizing Stationary Energy Storage Cost: Go To Market Plan For Zinc-Ion Rechargeable Batteries)

Reporting period: 2019-07-01 to 2019-09-30

ENERPOLY is a privately-owned Swedish company founded in 2018, with the mission of “accelerating the era of renewable energy sources (RES) with revolutionary battery storage technology¨. Driven by its ambitious mission, ENERPOLY aims to reduce the cost of stationary battery storage up to 75% vs. current standard technologies such as Lead-Acid and Lithium-Ion, while improving their performance and environmental friendliness with state-of-the-art Zn-Ion battery cell technology.
We consider ENERZ to be at TRL-6 as the technology has been demonstrated in a relevant environment. ENERZ’s prototype demonstrates rechargeability over 2000 cycles with close to 100% efficiency over all cycles and exceptional performance with compelling cell prices under €50/kWh.
This feasibility study has allowed us to examine the potential of the ENERZ project by thoroughly evaluating the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats presented by ENERZ. The assessment of technical feasibility has allowed us to plan the necessary activities to complete large-scale field testing, finalize the product certifications and build an in-house product line. All of the assessed components described within this feasibility study indicate that the ENERZ Phase 2 project is feasible and should result in a highly successful market launch by 2022.
Enerpoly’s batteries have the potential to drastically reduce the cost of storing energy at any scale, while increasing the flexibility of the electrical grid and the viability of renewable energy sources. Our batteries are also highly recyclable with the existing infrastructure, which makes them a great environmental choice.
