Summary of the context and overall objectives of the project

The increasing number of mass disasters, and the untraceable number of unidentified people worldwide, combined with new challenges due to mass migrations, pose human identification as a great challenge in the preservation and defence of human rights in today’s society. There is an urgent need to provide forensic practitioners with accurate, robust, unbiased and automated human identification systems.
Skeleton-ID is a computer tool designed to support forensic human identification and biological profiling of both death and alive persons, to perform fast, unbiased and accurate identification whatever information is available.

Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far

During the Feasibility Study period we have defined a complete Roadmap, Execution Plan and Risk Analysis, which comprise all the necessary activities to move from the current version of Skeleton-ID to an integral tool, FHIDAI (Forensic Human Identification supported by Artificial Intelligence). Commercially, we have performed an in-depth analysis of the Human Identification Market and updated our Exploitation, Commercial, Marketing and IPR Strategy (including FTO analysis) accordingly. Finally, we have drafted Financial Forecasts on a 5-year-projection, based on SaaS and On-premise business models and pricing policies, including Professional and Institutional segments (pay per use).

Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)

We aim to bring a novel computer-aided automatic paradigm for forensic human identification based on Forensic Anthropology methods, thanks to our innovative proprietary methodologies and AI-based automation algorithms. Based on this idea, we will commercialise 3 different products that share common technologies.
By providing the first solution of its kind, with FHIDAI we aim to become pioneers and a global reference in the FA field, creating new market opportunities in the forensic technologies segment, and exploiting the current positive market environment for a revolutionary technology like ours.
