SCALING UP OF THE MEDUNIVERSE PATIENT CASE ENGAGEMENT PLATFORM

Project description

Effective communication to help save lives

Ineffective communication between doctors and pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies is a leading cause of negative patient outcomes (higher mortality, lower satisfaction and higher readmission rates). The EU-funded MEDUNIVERSE project is providing pharmaceutical and other life science companies a unique patient case platform that will allow them to improve their engagement with healthcare professionals. The platform allows users to work with multiple markets (patient cases can be created in any language) and channels. As such, users gain valuable insights and feedback on their responses. The interaction data generated from activities will be presented in a dashboard for users.

Objective

Every interaction with healthcare professionals (HCPs) presents the Life Sciences (LSci) industry with opportunities to deliver and derive value. However, the low level of digital maturity prevalent in the sector means that often these opportunities don’t materialise. The manner in which new treatments are communicated and how feedback regarding these is gathered is a clear example of this problem. Current approaches fail to engage HCPs and to gather data in a systematic manner. With this problem in mind, we developed MedUniverse - a patient case engagement platform that helps the LSci industry communicate with HCPs in an engaging manner which captures relevant quantitative data and delivers reliable results. In the platform, HCPs interact with simulated patient cases, gaining feedback on their responses and viewing how their understanding compares to their peers. The interaction data is then presented in a dashboard for our customers to gain insights into the effectiveness of their medical education and multi-channel marketing campaigns.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

SME-1 - SME instrument phase 1
