Supporting innovation management of SMEs in Thuringia

The support of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Thuringia is set for them to become more innovative and competitive. This is essential for the economic development of the entire region. The EU-funded INNCASTHUR-20_21 project, implemented by Stiftung für Technologie, Innovation und Forschung Thüringen (STIFT) intends to provide services to Thuringian SMEs that will improve the efficacy and productiveness of their investments in research, development and innovation. Within the project, STIFT will mediate and accompany training through dedicated business coaching to successful applicants of the H2020 SME Instrument (EIC-Accelerator), Fast Track to Innovation or FET Open. Furthermore, STIFT will identify gaps in the innovation management capacity of local SMEs in a structured and professional way and provide suggestions for solutions how to address the identified gaps - through services offered by STIFT and/or local players, including the free consulting market.

Objective

The project intended to contribute to smart growth in Thuringia (Germany) by increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of investments in research, development and innovation. The services offered by STIFT had to focus on the increase and acceleration of the economic returns from innovation by
- facilitating and accompanying dedicated business coaching for successful proposers of H2020 SME instrument, Fast Track to Innovation or FET open
- identifying and addressing gaps in the innovation management capacity of Thuringian SMEs in a systematic and professional way
