Ostomy Market Disruption: First Leak Proof Ostomy Appliance removing the need for Accessories in the Ostomy Market

Project description

New ostomy appliance brings peace of mind

People who suffer from conditions like bowel injuries, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and abdominal/pelvic cancers may require the diversion of waste through a stoma. Ostomy pouches attach to the stoma, which has no muscle and cannot control the release of stool and gas. More than 10 million people wear ostomy pouches. The EU-funded Osto.Me project will bring to market the first intuitive, personalised leak-free device. It plans to capture 50 % of the global ostomy market. Developed by the Irish company Everywhere Medical, this new medical appliance aims to bring control and peace of mind to ostomates in their busy and active lifestyles, supporting them in enjoying their physical, emotional and holistic well-being.

Objective

Over 10 million people globally rely on ostomy pouches to collect and manage their body waste as a result of many illnesses treated through surgery. We are introducing first intuitive personalised leak free appliance to capture 50% of the global ostomate market creating a €2 billion company. Everywhere Medical Ltd is an Irish user led company who have developed Osto.Me through a highly interactive and iterative development pathway with user focus groups and clinical specialists to deliver a truly market leading, user endorsed, ‘re-think’ of the ostomy appliance.
