NB-IoT Robust Tracking and Monitoring Solution

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - stalkIT (NB-IoT Robust Tracking and Monitoring Solution)

Reporting period: 2019-12-01 to 2020-03-31

Asset tracking can help to prevent theft and loss of equipment, ease equipment location, maintenance and repair schedules, manage stock levels and transportation. StalkIT is the first solution in the market especially tailored for either waste container or livestock heads tracking. We meet the needs of waste container companies and farmers, providing more efficient management resulting from digitalisation, and decreasing costs as a result, in addition to appealing compliance with the current socio-political regulatory landscape. Our objective is to obtain an NB-IoT Robust Tracking and Monitoring Platform in TRL8, the final version of StalkIT, ready for commercialisation; we have demonstrated that it is technically, commercially and financially feasible.
We assessed the resources required and the development plan to solve HW, SW and connectivity challenges of IoT, in order to obtain the final version of our NB-IoT Robust Tracking and Monitoring Platform; ~2.5 M€ for a 24 months project with 12 more employees. This will be a third-generation HW tracker integrated with the ultimate WebApp, an automated ERP/CRM system and big data behavioural analysis with machine learning. Our technological advantage - ultimate radio access technology, data behavioural analysis and business integration - and the market acceptance of NB-IoT drivers is set to broaden our market scope. We count with an early commercial network, already providing service to >700 clients with the ultimate security and reliability, with >10,000 StalkIT NB-IoT devices now on service being validated. With this feasibility study we forecast to reach 400,000 units sold by 2025: a business opportunity of €28.45 million. Further, the FTO and IPR analysis gives us freedom to commercialise. We are confident that our business strategy can withstand the 10 non-extreme risk points we have identified. The financial outlook confirms the profitability of the project to evolve into a sustainable business for StalkIt.
StalkIT supports the waste management industry to adopt traceability measures by allowing tracking of containers, with huge direct socio-economic consequences of a more efficient management: This industry registered 36.8Gt CO2 emissions in the EU in 2018, with fuel combustion for freight transportation representing aprox. one sixth of such total. By adopting IoT tracking with StalkIT, we predict 1.6Gt less CO2 emissions, that is a 25% reduction by waste freight transportation activities.
