Periodic Reporting for period 1 - P-Gear (A revolutionary approach to mechanical transmission: the new gear-free, lubrication-free gearbox)

The ultimate goal of this project is to industrialize a new type of gearboxes without lubrication targeting primarily the pharmaceutical and food industries. Our new range of innovative magnetic transmission are 100% clean, silent, and virtually maintenance-free. Thanks to our specific distribution of the magnets, it is possible to obtain speed and power transmission, and speed decrease without contact between the rotors, thus eliminating the need for lubrication. The main goal of the feasibility study is to make sure our P-Gear project encompasses all the necessary technical, commercial and financial components.
Work performed from the beginning of the project to the end of the period covered by the report and main results achieved so far
We assessed the needs and planned the activities for the optimization of the magnets and design requirements of final casting of P-Gear components; analysed the requirements for production scale-up; defined a technical viability plan and a thorough project execution plan to obtain optimal functionality, consistency, efficiency of the transmission system. We conducted an in-depth analysis of the Global gearbox industry market focused on target countries. We also prepared, validated, and assessed the commercial risks of our exploitation and commercialization plans, including identifying and engaging key stakeholders into strategic alliances. We completed our dissemination strategy to ensure we are engaging our main stakeholders and audiences through the appropriate channels; defined our future IP strategy to protect any knowledge generated in this project; and assessed EU regulatory and certification requirements. Finally, we confirmed the price policy, costs, forecast number of sold units, EBITDA and ROI. A financial risk analysis was performed. Our business model proved solid, P-Gear is profitable and technically feasible.
Progress beyond the state of the art and expected potential impact (including the socio-economic impact and the wider societal implications of the project so far)
With P-Gear, POGGI targets the European industrial gearbox market, with pharmaceutical and food packaging companies being our primary and secondary customers. These industries are expected to comply with stricter health and safety standards, and are faced with the rising cost of energy, raw materials and logistics. Gear reducers and bearings used in such industries have unique and demanding requirements: to operate without fault, for longer and at the highest possible levels of energy efficiency throughout their lifespan. P-Gearis the first magnetic gearbox that successfully satisfies these needs with the potential to transform the gearbox market and set new standards for cost-effective and eco-sustainable industrial equipment.
