Automated cooking for tasty and healthy meals in a convenient way

Project description

Smart solution for healthy home cooking

The global meal kit delivery service market is growing, catering to consumers who want to eat healthy meals at home but do not have the time to cook. The demand for convenient, healthy and affordable solutions for everyday meals is growing. The EU-funded MealHero project proposes a patented solution that offers healthy and tasty meals cooked easily at home. MealHero consists of personalised meal kits made with freshly-frozen ingredients to be cooked at home in less than one minute by the MealHero’s smart steam cooker. The solution targets people who have no time or desire to cook but prioritise healthy eating. The project will prepare the feasibility study and will confirm its business model.

Objective

Over two-thirds of consumer’s report that they enjoy healthy and delicious meals but lack the necessary cooking skills or passion for cooking. Consumers are looking for more convenient food solutions, but existing options are either not healthy or not that convenient.
Mealhero has developed and patented the solution to provide healthy, delicious and personals meals cooked at home with zero effort. Our fully personalised meal kits consisting of freshly frozen ingredients are delivered at home; MealHero’s smart steam cooker prepares them with less than 1 minute of work. MealHero uniquely bridges two big consumer wishes: 1) healthy and personalized meals and 2) Busyness is damaging our eating habits: we spend less time cooking and we resort more often to junk-food. There simply is not enough time to prepare a healthy home-cooked meal.
We have developed a method for everyone to prepare home-made healthy meals in a simple and convenient way: we deliver freshly frozen ingredients to our customers and all the cooking is done autonomously by our smart steamer. It takes less than one minute of work to prepare a home-made meal.
We target people that either who don’t have the time or don’t feel like cooking and who want to live a healthier lifestyle. These people’ needs are unmet by current market offer. For example, meal kits can only deliver the convenience of home-delivery, users still have to spend time cooking. And most people don’t have the time, the cooking skills nor the passion for cooking. Nevertheless, the global meal kit delivery service market was valued at €2.2bn and forecasted to grow at 17% CAGR to reach €8bn by 2025. This confirms that consumers want to eat healthy meals at home. At MealHero, our challenge is to make this option convenient, delicious and affordable.
In this project, we will carry the feasibility study: particularly we will validate our business model and solution market fit.
We plan to reach €140m revenues by 2027 with 300 FTEs employed.
