Using precision cosmology to shed new light on fundamental questions
The dark matter, dark energy and inflation concepts parametrise scientists’ lack of knowledge about the universe without affecting their capability of making observable predictions on cosmological scales. However, these concepts represent one of the biggest unknowns from the perspective of fundamental physics. The EU-funded PiCOGAMBAS project aims to explain some of the fundamental cosmological questions. To this end, it will use observations of the reconstructed matter distribution in the universe in different wavelengths and analyse these data jointly. The project will provide insight into the physics of the inflationary mechanism, the measurement of neutrino masses and the nature of dark energy, dark matter and the gravitational force.
