Disposable well-plate inserts and perfusion chambers for easy-to-use and generic microchannel creation in 3D tissue culture

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - Design2Flow (Disposable well-plate inserts and perfusion chambers for easy-to-use and generic microchannel creation in 3D tissue culture)

Período documentado: 2020-03-01 hasta 2021-12-31

The ERC-PoC grant Design2Flow investigated the commercialization potential of perfusion chambers as consumable for the simple generation of vascularization in 3D cell culture. During the grant, the TR-L of the platform technology was increased to TLR-4 and led to the generation of highly reproducible prototypes. These prototypes have been used and improved with partner labs to generate perfusable 3D tissue constructs in a simple way, e.g. vascularized skin models. Furthermore, they are now being advertized to potential partner labs for testing purposes.
Furthermore, during the grant duration a patent application was written and submitted and a market analysis was conducted, including potential competitors, price models and manufacturing costs, which revealed a lucrative commercialization potential.
The results of Design2Flow will be the basis for the acquisition of further funding to increase the TR-L from 4 to 6 and establish a start-up for the exploitation of the planned product. The first two funding opportunities tackled are the EIC Transition or the german EXIST Forschungstransfer.
