Objective
The concept of ECAT is to combine Albanian and Eastern European know-how for developing environmental policies. ECAT wants to contribute to a sustainable development of the City and Region of Tirana.
The ECAT Tirana-team consisting of four Albanian and four Western European experts works in an interdisciplinary way. On the basis of legal, administrative and technological analyses, action programmes and projects will be designed in tight cooperation with local authorities, enterprises and non-governmental organisations in Tirana.
The main tasks of ECAT-Tirana is to function as a consulting body of the City Administration of Tirana, most of all on the topics of solid waste disposal management, waste water treatment, protection of urban parks, management of the increasing traffic and dissemination of environmental information. Furthermore, ECAT-Tirana is expected to help establish business contacts and give technical advice in the field of environmental technology. Terni and Thuringia have significant experience in environmental planning/administration and waste water treatment. The environmental administrators in Terni and Thuringia will support ECAT-Tirana in concrete projects.
