Irish-Danish-French co-pilot on environmental administration and auditing

Objective

This project is a cooperation project between Ireland (Clean Technology Centre), France (CITEPA) and Denmark (N&R Consultants). In each country a series of clean production demonstration projects will be simultaneously coordinated. Twenty small to medium enterprises (SMEs), representing a number of different industries will be selected to participate in the project in each of the three Member States. The management of these companies will receive assistance to complete an environmental audit in order to identify opportunities of minimizing waste. The companies will provide the manhours necessary to carry out the audit and to implement succeeding waste minimization projects.
The individual results from the three countries involved will be collated to facilitate the study of transnational, cultural and other effects on the efficacy of demonstration projects. The results gleaned from this project may be used to assist the uptake of cleaner production in small enterprises throughout the EU.
