Demonstrative project for a hi-tech plant specialised in the production of recycled rubber goods

Objective

The project is aimed to introduce a strong technological innovation in waste recycling. The initial R&D phase brought positive results, so it is necessary to carry out a demonstrative phase before the beginning of an industrial application. It is expected to achieve a confirmation of the positive results obtained in the technical and market tests, in order to spread the project feasibility on other contexts.

PHOENIX project is concerned with the rubber articles industry, and consists in a set of innovative modifications of the traditional manufacturing processes (raw material preparation phase). Namely, PHOENIX is aimed to obtain new rubber mixtures with innovative characteristics (such as self-extinguishness). The technological innovation in the rubber manufacturing process is based on a registered patent owned by the promoters, and it will allow a very interesting improvement: if applied in many geographical areas, the technological innovation will be able to solve the rubber waste placing problem, which still has not matched any suitable solution under an economical and ecological point of view. The project will have a duration of 24 months, which will be necessary in order to organize the demonstrative production (4 months), to start the actual production and commercialization (18 months) and to spread the results of the project (2 months). The rubber articles produced with the new technologies will be addressed to a wide range of industries (such as buildings, traffic signs, shoes, etc).

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
